Mimi version 2 and Me-Made-May 2015!!
Helloooo!
I was aiming for blog posts every Tuesday, but this week got away from me. Back to school, so very little time for frivolous fun such as blogging! Just one day late isn't too bad, though.
I made a new Mimi! You remember the disaster? Made the Mimi blouse from Tilly and the Buttons, but WAAAAAY too big, as a result of muddling up my measurements. But I did like it, and I thought it would suit me. So I had another go:
I lurve the colour, and the grey buttons are a bit cool too (although one of my year 10s asked me why I chose them because they looked stupid - I'm not going to take it personally).
Apologies for the creasing - there's a story for that...
The first time I wore this was at my baby sisters' 18th birthday lunch (yep - the same one Mr M wore his waistcoat), but I had so much fun I failed to take a picture. It's a shame as it was a beautiful day.
I then planned to wear it some time the next week, but it needed ironing and I wasn't organised enough. So then finally this morning I had a spare 5 minutes to iron it (although clearly 5 mins wasn't enough!), so was planning to photo it out the front of the house. But the weather was against me. As we stepped out of the front door, it started pouring. So I drove to school hoping it'd brighten up on the way. But alas no. So the photos were taken in my classroom. Sorry for that. Not really inspiring or exciting!
There is just one aspect of this blouse that I'm unhappy with:
Yep that's right. I somehow ended up with the buttons and the buttonholes right on the edge of the front pieces. But I think it looks fine. No one said it looked weird (excepting that lovely year 10 student who didn't like the buttons - if you know my year 10 group, you can probably guess who!).
Here is the back:
I am considering making another without the gathering at the back, but I really do like this top! Tilly has a hack on her blog for making it into a pussy-bow blouse, so I might give that a go next time around. I also think the piped yoke seams look cool too, so I'm saving that for a holiday!
In other news, I am participating in Me-Made-May 2015!
Here is my pledge:

Here is my pledge:
I, Emily, sign up as a participant of Me-Made-May '15. I endeavour to wear at least one handmade item each day for the duration of May 2015
Yep, that's right. A whole month of me-made clothes! I'm excited (and a bit scared). It's also an opportunity to test out my Wardrobe Architect project, and to see what gaps I have in my wardrobe.
I haven't yet decided whether to post my MMM15 outfits each day, or whether to do a weekly summary - all thoughts welcome!
Emily.
